Lake Manawa State Park. If you visit the park often, you probably know exactly where this is. The morning sun was shining, the leaves were turning, and the fog was rising. I love this time of year.

Here’s a thistle I recently found in a local prairie preserve here in Council Bluffs. They’re not the easiest flower to handle, obviously, but they’re worth the trouble. Thanks to everybody who visited my display at Lauritzen Gardens over the summer. It was an incredible experience.
This one is dedicated to my good friends Rob and Maggie Schlautman, who tied the knot last Friday. I took this photo with Rob last month just east of Council Bluffs while waiting for the no-show Northern Lights. The only light was from the rising moon and the glow of the building midnight fog.
